1. california dreamin', the mamas and the papas.  many times i catch this song right as it begins.  i'll listen to it the whole way through.  another one of those artists that i actually know pretty much their entire catalog due to my upbringing. there's this one part that i really dig.  i won't break it down line by line, but i just listen for it.

2. maggie may, rod stewart.  when i was very young, like pre-K, i loved rod stewart, not b/c i was so familiar with his songs, aside from this one which i distinctly remember loving dearly, but b/c my mom liked him.  she still does. i do believe i had a newspaper clipping of rod in his full soccer kit on my bedroom closet door.  so yeah, i dug rod.  now that i think about this, did my parents show me the picture and then i begged to cut it out? more questions than answers i guess.  my aunt had an irish setter called maggie, i wonder if it was for this song?  my dad always sang to the dog.

3. edge of seventeen, stevie nicks.  i don't really remember this song from my youth, but i like it now.  i do remember when stand back came out, and i really liked that song.  the dramatics get me now.  typically i hear this song on the way to work.  now, why is some pgh radio station playing this song in the same time slot multiple times a week?  no idea.  anyway, stevie, she's good.  so many of those 80's solo stevie songs are just fun.  i wholely support that.

i left work today to pick something up in "town" and heard two of these three songs during my 10 minute car drive.

(in my quest to find out if it was maggie may or maggie mae i just learned that rod stewart covers girl from the north country.  i don't think that's a good idea at all, i'm sorry.)

2. i'm waiting for this class to go home, i'm technically done working.... urgh. i cannot bring myself to throw them out.
3. the sidebar of my mail is providing me with a great website to check out: catch him and keep him .com wtf? they apparently know i have problems.
4. it's only tuesday but i'm so looking forward to the weekend. so looking fwd.
5. i have great sewing projects under way and one really annoying fix/ repair one under way that i need to just WRAP UP and get done with it.

i'm focused on this stills lyric at present, been an open book, been a slamming door.  i'm not very good at the middle ground, am i? and really, i'm more of a slamming door than an open book.  i actually feel waves of regret and apprehension about the open book.  i just assume people don't even want to know.  (i hate writing in this tone, this is normally one for paper....). i do such foolish things. m said recently to just accept it and stop fretting over really minor "mistakes". i can't sometimes.  maybe if i was more of an open book it wouldn't bother me as much, b/c it wouldn't weigh down? i think this is my major fault/ personality glitch. so am i writing this as a resolution to work on this? no, not really.  just acknowledging.

sunday mornings are the worst, right?  i have to chalk some of these bad feelings to the fact that it's a sunday too.  blech. but most of what i'm feeling, is my own damn fault.

i wish i could stay home and watch movies all day today.  i have some things from netflix and from work that are just sitting there. sigh.

anyway, went to LA with m last week. had a good time.  bought no records at amoeba, can you believe?!?! i tried really hard to write while i was there, but i'm not happy with what i produced.  there's much to be desired but it did get some thoughts moving.  we hit all the usual spots, the griddle, the abbey, m and s (various locations...). we also went to some new spots, griffith observatory being the best.  i hadn't been there. if you're in LA, go there, it's an amazing view and the items they have are awesome. (i have a soft spot for tesla coils aftering seeing one at coachella. i believe i just kept saying "tesla coil!!!!!!" as i stared at it.) i did get a bit of motion sickness during the insane planetarium show. during the introduction, the announcer said something to the effect of "we will be moving through time and space, should you feel sick simply close your eyes".  of course i immediately thought, wtf are they on about?  then i felt ill as we were zooming in on the alexandria.  blech.  so i closed my eyes and missed some of time and space i guess. 

i was so happy to put my feet in the cold, cold ocean.  there is nothing better.
